About Me

Carlos is a seasoned professional actor who has performed hundreds of times for thousands of patrons over the course of his acting career. After graduating from Miami Dade College with an A.A. in Drama Education, Carlos trained and performed for over a year with Laughing Gas, South Florida?s best longest running improv comedy troupe. Afterwards, Carlos performed on tour for two years with the Fantasy Theatre Factory, performing children?s theater in hundreds of schools throughout the state of Florida, and teaching workshops with the same organization for Broward County Schools. During this time, Carlos became a founding member of Ground Up & Rising, the theatre company which would go on to be called South Florida?s ?hottest actor-driven company? by The Sun Sentinel. Carlos served as lead sketch writer and a principal performer for Ground Up & Rising Inc.?s variety show LIVE @ the Clevelander, a weekly performance extravaganza hosted by the Clevelander Hotel on Miami Beach?s world-famous Ocean Drive. Carlos has a broad range of performances in his repertoire, having portrayed a wide-array of characters ranging from jaded Italian-American prison guard Charlie D?Amico in Stephen Adly Guirgis? Jesus Hopped the ?A? Train, to a 55 year-old Hindu man in The Indian Wants the Bronx by Israel Horovitz, to even a young Vietnam-era soldier in David Rabe?s The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel. Carlos also co-directed Ground Up & Rising Inc.?s critically acclaimed production of David Rabe?s The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel. In December 2007, Carlos created a South Florida first: an improvisational comedy show designed specifically for children entitled Thinking On Your Head, Standing On Your Feet currently enjoying an ongoing performance run at the Miami Children?s Museum on Watson Island. In April 2008, Carlos wrote, directed, and performed a theatrical adaptation of Igor Stravinsky?s A Soldier?s Tale during the landmark collaboration between Ground Up & Rising and the chamber orchestra Project Copernicus. He also received critical praise for his portrayal of Yusef El-Fayoumy in Ground Up & Rising?s production of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot and is currently an Artist-In-Residence for the Arts For Learning Organization. Most recently, Carlos performed the lead role of Ground Up & Rising's productions of Martin McDonagh's The Pillowman for the 2009 Miami Beach Sleepless Night.
