Baby Dyke Whisperer: Betty is on her first date with a woman and trying her best to figure out her sexuality. Fortunately for her, she's on a date with Erin, The Baby Dyke Whisperer. This play explores LGBT culture, figuring out one's sexuality, and the complicated relationship queer women have with the word 'dyke.' Catching Lemons: Matthew has been in the closet for as long as he can remember, but when his grandmother's dementia takes a turn for the worse, he realizes how little time he has left to tell her what he has never told anyone before. The Man In A Lavender Suit: This is a short play about four lesbian women at a séance. As they get to know one another, they inadvertently belittle one of the women who explains that she is actually bisexual. Like Summer On The Beach: To her women's group, a young woman recalls being attracted to another woman while hanging out with her disagreeable boyfriend in a bar. Neshama: In this profoundly simple and beautifully illustrated children's story, a precious soul, Neshama, is delivered against her will into the world. She discovers the purpose of her mission as she leaves heaven, gives life to a little boy and goes with him on a spiritual journey. Witness the story unfold through the easily recognizable images of the first ten letters of the Alef-Beit, the Hebrew alphabet. Parent/Child: Now casting for a coming out play festival. Second Look: Two men, each with walls of their own, strike up a conversation in front of a gay bar. Jason, who is completely blind, is anxious that his disability will make him an unappealing partner, while Robbie is too self-deprecating and self-conscious to exist in what he perceives to be an image-driven bar scene. Jason and Robbie connect over feeling subjected to preconceived notions in their daily lives, and find comfort in one another’s abilities to push past first impressions. This is the first 10 minutes of a full length play, SEEING EYE. That Perfect Kiss: Now casting for a coming out play festival. The Home for Retired Canadian Girlfriends: What happens when the people we create to hide our true selves get to live lives of their own? Tiffany is about to find out but she’s gotta get through a very enthusiastic Orientation Coordinator first. Please prepare a one- to two-minute contemporary monologue. Directors may request a cold read as well. Please also indicate your vocal type if auditioning for THAT PERFECT KISS. Music will be sent prior to auditions.
