Audition Description

Meek flower shop assistant, Seymour, pines for acceptance. During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant. This Dark Musical Comedy is an audience favorite!

  • Role #1 - Audrey

The bleached-blond, Billie-Dawn-like, secret love of Seymour's life. If you took Judy Holliday, Carol Channing, Maryilyn Monroe, and Goldie Hawn, removed their education and feelings of self-worth, dressed them in spiked heels and a black dress, and then shook them up in a test tube to extract what's sweetest and most vulnerable- that'd be Audrey. Vocal Range: Sweet-sounding Mezzo-Soprano with strong belt ability G3 – D5
Seeking 1 talent(s) for this role
    Talent specs:
    Gender: Female
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 18 - 39
    Expiration Date: Jan 8, 2020
  • Role #2 - Crystal

One of the street urchins who function as participants in the action and a Greek Chorus outside it. They are our primary story-tellers who help move the story along and provide some narrative. They're hip, smart, and the only characters who really know what's going on. In their "Greek Chorus" capacity, they occasionally sing to the audience directly. And when they do, it's often with a "secret smile" that says, "we know something you don't know". Vocal Range: Must sound funky, soulful, jazzy and huge with every note sung. Low Alto to supremely high belt.
Seeking 1 talent(s) for this role
    Talent specs:
    Gender: Female
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 18 - 30
    Expiration Date: Jan 8, 2020
  • Role #3 - Ronnette

One of the street urchins who function as participants in the action and a Greek Chorus outside it. They are our primary story-tellers who help move the story along and provide some narrative. They're hip, smart, and the only characters who really know what's going on. In their "Greek Chorus" capacity, they occasionally sing to the audience directly. And when they do, it's often with a "secret smile" that says, "we know something you don't know". Vocal Range: Must sound funky, soulful, jazzy and huge with every note sung. Low Alto to supremely high belt.

  • Role #4 - Chiffon

One of the street urchins who function as participants in the action and a Greek Chorus outside it. They are our primary story-tellers who help move the story along and provide some narrative. They're hip, smart, and the only characters who really know what's going on. In their "Greek Chorus" capacity, they occasionally sing to the audience directly. And when they do, it's often with a "secret smile" that says, "we know something you don't know". Vocal Range: Must sound funky, soulful, jazzy and huge with every note sung. Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 18 - 30
    Expiration Date: Jan 8, 2020
  • Role #5 - Mr. Mushnik

Audrey and Seymour's Boss. A failure of an East Side florist. His accent, if he has one, is more that of middle class New York than of Eastern Europe. He seldom smiles but often sweats. Vocal Range: Baritone, G2 – F4
Seeking 1 talent(s) for this role
    Talent specs:
    Gender: Male
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 30 - 65
    Expiration Date: Jan 8, 2020
  • Role #6 - Voice of the Plant

Provided by an actor on an offstage microphone. The sound is a cross between Otis Redding, Barry White, and Wolfman Jack. Think of The Voice as that of a street-smart, funky, conniving villain- Rhythm and Blues' answer to Richard the Third. (Also plays Wino #1 in the first scene.)
Seeking 1 talent(s) for this role
    Talent specs:
    Gender: Male, Female
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 18 - 60
    Expiration Date: Jan 8, 2020
  • Role #7 - Audrey II Puppeteer

An actor that will puppet Audrey II-1, Audrey II-3, and Audrey II-4. An anthropomorphic cross between a Venus flytrap and an avocado. It has a huge, nasty looking pod which gains a shark-like aspect when open and snapping food.
Seeking 1 talent(s) for this role
    Talent specs:
    Gender: Male, Female
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 18 - 60
    Expiration Date: Jan 8, 2020
  • Role #8 - Orin Scrivello

A tall, dark, handsome dentist with a black leather jacket and sadistic tendencies. He is not, however, a leftover from the movie version of Grease. Think instead of an egotistical pretty-boy- all got up like a greaser but thinking like an insurance salesman and talking like a radio announcer. Range: Baritone, G2 – G4
Seeking 1 talent(s) for this role
    Talent specs:
    Gender: Male
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 27 - 30

    A fast-talking media hotshot.
Seeking 1 talent(s) for this role

    Gender: Male
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 27 - 30
