Audition Description

Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play, "God of Carnage" relates an evening in the lives of two couples, residents of a tony Brooklyn neighborhood, who meet to discuss a playground incident. Alan and Annette’s son Henry hit Michael and Veronica’s son Benjamin in the face with a stick, resulting in two broken teeth. The four of them agree to discuss the incident civilly, but, as the night wears on and drinks are imbibed, the polite veneer breaks down. The couples initially spar against each other, but the men gang up on the women and the spouses switch sides as the fighting continues. Reza’s play suggests that our civilized trappings do a poor job of hiding our venality and bile.

  • Benjamin's father, Alan is the most openly rude because he frequently interrupts the meeting by talking on his cell phone. His law firm represents a pharmaceutical company that is about to be sued because one of their new products causes dizziness and other negative symptoms. He claims that his son is a savage and doesn’t see any point in trying to change him. He is openly sexist and dismissive of those he sees as his inferiors. Of the four, he is the first to drop any sense of pretense or adherence to social niceties.

  • At first she seems like the most benevolent of the bunch. Instead of resorting to litigation regarding her son Henry's injury, she believes that they can all come to an agreement about how Benjamin (Annette and Alan's son) should make amends for his attack. Of the four principles, Veronica exhibits the strongest desire for harmony.

  • Henry's mother seems to be constantly on the brink of a physical breakdown. In fact, she vomits twice during the course of the play. The pressures of her family and work lives have attacked her sense of self. Annette feels abandoned by her husband who is eternally preoccupied with work. Alan is glued to his cell phone throughout the play, until Annette finally loses control and drops the phone into a vase of tulips. Annette is the most physically destructive of the four characters.

Got movie role in 5 days, I made $1,000. Thanks Let me tell you, in only five days I was picked up for a role in a movie called "Coming Attractions," shooting here in Orlando. It has many stars cast such as Angie Everheart (Supermodel/Bordello of Blood) Micheal Laslow (Beverly Hills Cop Movies) Pat Morita (Kirate Kid) and many more! I always knew that this site was different from all of the scam sites who don't even provide you with anything you need. Just some address to send off a headshot and resume to a Casting Director, or Production company when they end up throwing all of those out anyways. Explore Talent Allows you to book yourself. Thanks to everyone at Explore Talent, who helps me to have my submissions out right away!! April Florio
