Eleanor is a biracial college dropout who has sacrificed her dreams to take care of her dying mother, but the real trouble begins when her white half-brother returns home unexpectedly after nine years away. Their fleeting attempts to rebuild their fragile relationship quickly grind to a halt once Patrick learns that Eleanor has been receiving phone calls from her biological father, and is considering meeting him for the first time. Convinced that her father is the reason for their family dysfunction, Patrick reopens old wounds, and both siblings tear each other down in ways that only family can. But, as the siblings fight the odds to stand together, their parents' secrets continue to divide them on life, love, and the racial tension that has always loomed between them. Will they be able reconcile? Or was their relationship doomed from the start?
