A Chorus Line: Hundreds of hopefuls congregate at a cattle call for Broadway dancers. A sour director, Zach, and his brusque assistant whittle down the ranks until they're left with 16 dancers. All tell their life stories -- some tragic, some comic -- and explain their love of dance. Tension mounts when Cassie -- once both a big star and the director's lover but now desperate for a part -- auditions. But Zach must choose only the best for his show. Fences: The story of Troy Maxson, an African-American garbage collector and ex-convict who once had a promising future in baseball. His circumstances as a youth led him to prison, after which he settled down with Rose and made a family. Sense & Sensibility: Sense and Sensibility tells the story of the impoverished Dashwood family, focusing on the sisters Elinor and Marianne, personifications of good sense (common sense) and sensibility (emotionality), respectively. ... He deserts Marianne for an heiress, and she eventually makes a sensible marriage with Colonel Brandon. A Midsummer Night's Dream: A Midsummer Night's Dream opens with Theseus and Hippolyta planning their wedding, which takes place in four days. Egeus enters with his daughter, Hermia, and her two suitors, Lysander and Demetrius. Hermia is in love with Lysander, but her father wants her to marry Demetrius. Henry IV, Part 2: King Henry IV suffers from illness, so his youngest son Prince John fights the rebels, while Prince Hal prepares to be king. Meanwhile, Hal's friend Falstaff causes trouble, recruits, and speaks ill of Hal. Henry dies, and Hal becomes King Henry V. What To Prepare: Please prepare one of the following two audition options: 1) Prepare a brief monologue from one of the plays, or a monologue that will illuminate your ability to play one of the roles. Actors auditioning for A Midsummer Night's Dream or Henry IV, Part 2 should prepare a brief Shakespearean monologue. 2) Prepare 16 bars of a song and a 1 minute monologue that will illuminate your ability to play a role in A Chorus Line and/or Fences, An Iliad, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Sense & Sensibility, or Henry IV, Part 2. If singing, bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.
