Antigone: A tragedy written by Sophocles in the year 441 BCE and is a play about the aftermath of a civil war in which the two sons of Oedipus, Eteocles and Polyneices, kill each other, where the new king and their successor, Creon, tries to punish Polyneices for his disloyalty by not burying him properly. Blues for an Alabama Sky: Tells the story of Angel, a struggling blues singer in 1930s Harlem, New York during the Great Depression. Cleage is praised for bringing to life the cultural renaissance which took place in Harlem during a period of economic uncertainty. Preparation: - Prepare EITHER 1) 1 ½ minute contemporary/classical monologue for the plays or 2) For the Musical, a brief song that shows your range; or 3) A one minute monologue and 16 bars of a song if wished to audition for all shows.
