Audition / Job Description

We are an 11 piece band based in Richmond that has been actively playing since 1974. Styles range from big band swing (rarely performed now) to uniquely arranged cover music selections from the 60's through today, with a heavy focus on dance music. The group plays venues to include outdoor concerts, weddings, private events, and local clubs. On average, the band plays 1-4 engagements per month.

A member has recently decided to retire, effective summer of 2020. His role was primarily as a lead and background vocalist, but he also played trombone.

Gigs pay from $0-$400. Average pay $100 local.

  • Role #1 - Vocalist

    Vocalist (male or female) with the following attributes:

    Lead vocalist skills

    Fronting / audience engagement skills

    Background vocal skills

    Good ear, able to learn and retain parts and preferably, the ability to read parts

    Coachable

    Command of high notes / strong falsetto a plus (if male)

    Additional skills considered

    Ability / willingness to assist in band setup (optional) and teardown (required)

    Additional instrumental skills would be considered valuable
