Audition Description

We will be filming moving portraits of four resurrection stories: The story of Jairus and his daughter, Lazarus, the Widow of Nain, and the Resurrection of Jesus. We will not capture the actual resurrection of be using these moving portraits to paint the picture and display the emotions that preceded each resurrection.


For Easter 2021 at NewSpring church in South Carolina, we are taking 4 resurrection stories and focusing on specific people within those stories. This will be a modern/abstract retelling of biblical stories. Non-speaking roles. Emoting powerful emotions will be necessary. The wardrobe will be historically accurate biblical attire while the setting will be an industrial modern venue. All footage and photos will be shared with talent post-production.

    We will be in need of a few extras to help support some scenes. Specifically carrying a stretcher in the story of the Widow of Nain story. This will be half of a day on set. No rate specified.

    Shoulder to long hair desired. Piercings are okay. Martha will be seen in the story of Lazarus. She is in grief and carrying a great sadness from the death of him and frustrated that Jesus did not arrive sooner to heal him. This is a non-speaking role but will be asked to carry despair as we film these moving portraits. This role will be on set for one afternoon, about 2 hours of filming/photos.

    Facial hair not required but would be desired for cultural accuracy. Jairus' role will be captured pursuing Jesus in the midst of his younger daughter dying. Full of fear, desperation, anxiousness, and then sadness as he returns to his home to find his daughter has passed. This is a non-speaking role that has the need for strong greiving emotions. This will be shot as a moving portrait. This will be half of a day on set, 2-3 hours of filming/photos) in wardrobe.

    Jairus' wife will be shown as Jairus and Jesus return to her and find out that their daughter has died. She will already be desperate and torn apart with grief as she had waited on her husband to return with Jesus to heal their daughter but was probably with the young girl as she passed. This is a non-speaking role but it will be necessary to show pain, hurt, grief. This role will be on set for half of a day, about 2 to 3 hours in the wardrobe for filming/photos.

She will be completely distraught with emotions as her son has died and he is being carried out of the city for burial. This will be half of a day on set and about 2 hours in character/wardrobe for filming/photos.

    Longer hair and facial hair desired. 5'8" and taller. This will be a non-speaking role playing Jesus of Nazareth. In the scenes to be filmed, Jesus will be interacting with 3 different resurrection stories from the Bible: Widow of Nain, Lazarus, and Jairus' daughter. He will be stepping into these moments of grief, despair, tragedy, and heartache with these other roles. During the Lazarus scene, Jesus will be brought to tears alongside Mary Magdalene. This role will require kind gestures/facial expressions while also being able to console the grief that will fill the scene. This will be 2 to 3 days of filming. Not full days. Each recreation story will be about 2-3 hours of filming/photos on set.

In both scenes, she will be overwhelmed with emotions of grief. This is a non-speaking role but the shots will be abstract moving portraits of the despair and sadness she is carrying with both of the "deaths" she is encountering. This role will require one day of filming. 2 hours as Mary Magdalene at the resurrection of Jesus and 2-3 hours at the resurrection of Lazarus. The filming location will be the same venue.
