Audition Description

A dark comedy following Shawn, a strange man who becomes obsessed by the predictions found within the Fortune Cookies from his local takeaway. Following the advice of these fortunes, Shawn becomes embroiled in a series of bizarre scenarios that lead him to believe that they possess the secrets t a happy and fruitful life.

  • Role #1 - Shawn

    Shawn is at his wits-end. Desperate for any kind of positive news, his gullible and child-like nature leads him to place his faith in a Fortune Cookie. A loner by nature, and with a loack of self-awareness that makes him an oddball, Shawn feels that his life is missing an essential component; companionship and happiness and starts to belive that these Fortune Cookies are the solution.

Rarely leaving her flat Sarah is isolated, resulting in a natural curiosity for people and people-watching. After witnessing Shawn's eccentric behaviour, her curiosity takes over and is quickly seduced into following him into his strange adventure.

The nature of his job(s) dealing with members of the public means Greg has a brusque, sarcastic nature, though he is actually an emotional, soft-hearted man who similar to Shawn and Sarah is seeking a connection.
