Seeking to fill a few crew positions for this project. PITCH: The show is called "BackWards Thinking". I have done personal research about the naming convention - getting honest answers from friends and colleagues who have had no connection to the project -, with feedback being mostly positive. The name draws the eye and piques interest. There will be 11 episodes in the first season, which takes place over a not quite linear timeline. A struggling musician, a "mum" friend, an underpaid retail worker with emotional issues, a crazy person and a person with a very rare blood disease and no sense of self-preservation all live together and try to make their lives as incoherent as possible. The show highlights the importance of having fun and being able to live life to the fullest, as you do not know how much time you have with those you love. Each segment of the episode is broken into approx. 4-minute pieces, focus on a comedic "bit" that teaches us about the characters, the world and the situation, so that the audience gets attached to it, and learns about them. The talent I wish to pursue is the ones who are young, possibly barely known actors, of all races and creeds, who fit the characters as envisioned. Auditions can be held to find the perfect matches for each character on screen. The tone is intentionally light-hearted, goofy and fun, but with a slow and underlying dread that comes to a head later on as the characters, and storylines reach a climax. The show is intended to appeal to 16 to 25-year-olds, catering more to an Australian audience but acceptable for a global audience's understanding. The way that I plan to appeal to them is through relatable characters with real-world struggles that are not downplayed for a laugh or taken so seriously that it disrupts the flow of the show, simple humour like slapstick and wordplay. Audiences of this day and age don't want more drama, the real world is chaotic and violent enough as it is, 16 - 25-year-olds want an escape to a world that's much more light-hearted. The world of social media has expanded and continues to expand. There are more sites than ever to spread the word on, and if given a chance, the internet will spread the show's virality globally. Accompanied by tweets, posts and videos from actors, producers, and directors; managing social media will be a simple task. While I do not have a budget to hire people myself, I do have a pilot script pending editing, and about 7 episodes half completed written by me. I also have character designs as commission out of pocket, drawn by my sister.
