Audition Description

Want to be in a local theater production? We are holding auditions for the first part of our upcoming season. This is the first time the theater is hosting an open call for new actors in more than two years.

Upcoming productions include Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest" in February, Neil Simon's "Rumors" in March and "The Play That Goes Wrong" in June.

  • Role #1 - John "Jack" Worthing

The Importance of Being Earnest : Jack is the play's protagonist and the play's most sympathetic character. He was found in a handbag on a railway line, and feels less at home in aristocratic society than does Algernon. He lives in the country but has invented a wicked brother named "Ernest" whose scrapes require Jack's attendance in the city.
Seeking 1 talent(s) for this role
    Talent specs:
    Gender: Male
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 18 - 60
    Expiration Date: Nov 20, 2021
  • Role #2 - Algernon Moncrieff

The Importance of Being Earnest : Algernon, the foil to Jack, is a hedonist who has created a friend named Bunbury whose status as a permanent invalid allows Algernon to leave the city whenever he pleases. He believes this activity, "Bunburying," is necessary, especially if one is going to get married-something he vows never to do.
Seeking 1 talent(s) for this role
    Talent specs:
    Gender: Male
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 18 - 60
    Expiration Date: Nov 20, 2021
  • Role #3 - Lady Bracknell

The Importance of Being Earnest : Lady Bracknell is the antagonist of the play, blocking both potential marriages. She embodies typical Victorian classism; she does not allow Gwendolen to marry Jack when she finds out he is an orphan, and she dislikes Cecily as a mate for her nephew Algernon until she learns that Cecily is wealthy.
Seeking 1 talent(s) for this role
    Talent specs:
    Gender: Female
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 18 - 60
    Expiration Date: Nov 20, 2021
  • Role #4 - Gwendolen Fairfax

The Importance of Being Earnest : Gwendolen is Lady Bracknell's daughter, and is the object of Jack's romantic attention. Though she returns his love, Gwendolen appears self-centered and flighty. Like Cecily, she desires nothing but to marry someone named Ernest.
Seeking 1 talent(s) for this role
    Talent specs:
    Gender: Female
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 18 - 60
    Expiration Date: Nov 20, 2021
  • Role #5 - Cecily Cardew

The Importance of Being Earnest : Cecily is Jack's ward and lives with him in the country. Young and pretty, she is favored by Algernon, who pretends to be Jack's brother Ernest. Cecily has heard about this brother, and has written correspondences between the two of them for months by the time she meets Algernon/Ernest. Like Gwendolen, she is only interested in marrying a man named Ernest.
Seeking 1 talent(s) for this role
    Talent specs:
    Gender: Female
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 18 - 60
    Expiration Date: Nov 20, 2021
  • Role #6 - Miss Prism

The Importance of Being Earnest : Miss Prism is the Cecily's governess. She obviously loves Chasuble, though the fact that he is a priest prohibits her from telling him so directly.
Seeking 1 talent(s) for this role
    Talent specs:
    Gender: Female
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 18 - 60
    Expiration Date: Nov 20, 2021
  • The Importance of Being Earnest : Algernon's butler delivers a number of droll lines which show that he is far from a passive servant.

    Gender: Female
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 18 - 60
    Expiration Date: Nov 20, 2021

The Play That Goes Wrong : Annie is the company's stage manager with a Lancashire accent. She has the biggest journey of any character. Cockney or Northern England accent

The Play That Goes Wrong : Chris/Inspector Carter is the director of the play-within-a-play Murder at Haversham Manor and plays the esteemed Inspector Carter. This is the biggest day of his life. He is rigid and uptight. The experience of performing the show is both nerve-wracking and exciting. His pain is evident and every time someone laughs, the pain deepens. RP accent.

  • Role #22 - Robert/Thomas

The Play That Goes Wrong : Robert/Thomas Colleymore wants to be Richard Burton, as evidenced by his presentational style. But he's not a parody of a bad actor, just unaware of others around him. He does not feel bad when things go wrong and never learns from his mistakes. There's a power struggle between Robert and Chris to be president of the Cornley Poly Drama Society (a position that matters a great deal to Robert). Must have RP accent and real vocal power.

Laughter from the audience is agony and a personal tragedy for him. He's slightly oblivious, but understands when he gets things wrong. RP accent. Trevor is the play's curmudgeonly lighting and sound operator. He simply wants to get on with the show. He doesn't like actors. He is easily distracted and does many things he shouldn't, including talking to the audience. When things go really sideways, he is forced to act in the play. Cockney or Northern England accent.

    Gender: Male
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 18 - 60
    Expiration Date: Nov 20, 2021
  • Role #24 - Jonathan/Charles

The Play That Goes Wrong : Jonathan/Charles Haversham is a bit bland personality-wise but sees himself as a James Bond-type. Excited and having fun. He technically has to drive the show. He cares about the play, but it's mostly just for fun for him. The role of Charles Haversham is a very physically demanding role. RP accent.
Seeking 1 talent(s) for this role
    Talent specs:
    Gender: Male
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 18 - 60
    Expiration Date: Nov 20, 2021
  • Role #25 - Max/Cecil

The Play That Goes Wrong : Max/Cecil Haversham/Arthur has never been onstage before. He learned his lines and does exactly what he's told to do. He has zero connection with any of the actors, but when he gets a laugh he breaks the fourth wall and engages with the audience. Childlike and naïve. His mistakes are fundamental. He doesn't think anything through. RP accent.
Seeking 1 talent(s) for this role
    Talent specs:
    Gender: Male
    Ethnicity: Any
    Age: 18 - 60
    Expiration Date: Nov 20, 2021
  • Role #26 - Sandra/Florence

The Play That Goes Wrong : Sandra/Florence Colleymore is vain and has a huge ego. She wants to be loved. She has ambitions to go to Hollywood and will hurt anyone standing in the way of what she wants, but is smart enough to stay on the good side of someone who can help her (like the director). The stakes are high for her. Very physical role – RP accent.

Landed 2 movie roles... Thank you ExploreTalent... Christina landed 2 Feature Film roles. These are independent movies that will be shown in all the major International Film Festivals. She just joined ExploreTalent and already has more opportunities than we ever imagined. An elite modeling management agency in New York contacted us after seeing Christina's profile on ExploreTalent. A casting director personally asked Christina to audition personally for both a TV SHOW and a Music Video. A producer/director from Tampa requested a dancing video of Christina for a short he is producing. We are actually overwhelmed by the response we have gotten from working with ExploreTalent Casting Directors and Producers. Thank you again. You are the BEST, Christina McGill, Actress/Model & Jeanne McGill, Mother.
