Audition Description

Woody Guthrie's American Song: Twenty-four years later, the show opened in a concert staging at the Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkeley, California, to coincide with Woody’s 100th birthday on July 14, 2012. The show exploded from the stage, and if anything, felt more urgent and more exciting than it had nearly a quarter century ago. Woody’s message hasn’t lost a drop of relevance, and his music still packs a wallop.

Matilda the Musical: Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Over the course of her first term at school, Matilda and Miss Honey have a profound effect on each other's lives, as Miss Honey begins not only to recognize but also appreciate Matilda's extraordinary personality. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace! Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs Matilda is a joyous romp. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.

Don't Dress For Dinner: Any play with a title as ooh-la-la-licious as "Don't Dress for Dinner" sounds promising -- but when that play is also a sequel to the hilarious and wildly popular "Boeing Boeing" ... well, then it's certifiably fun. Ten years have passed and the roguish stars of "Boeing Boeing", Robert and Bernard, have "settled down." But that doesn't stop another influx of sexy shenanigans, mix-ups and wild coincidences that keep this farce moving from curtain up. Bernard's plans for a rendezvous in the countryside with his mistress take an unexpected turn when his wife decides to stay in town for a tryst of her own with Robert ... who had supplied Bernard with his alibi. With a cook named Suzette, a lover named Suzanne, a confused friend and a suspicious wife.

Safety Net: "A thoughtful midlife-crisis drama that touches on everything from the racial prejudices of the liberal elite to the nature-nurture debate."

Becoming Dr. Ruth: Everyone knows Dr. Ruth Westheimer from her career as a pioneering radio and television sex therapist. Few, however, know the incredible journey that preceded it. From fleeing the Nazis in the Kindertransport and joining the Haganah in Jerusalem as a sniper, to her struggle to succeed as a single mother newly-arrived in America, Mark St. Germain deftly illuminates this remarkable woman's untold story. "Becoming Dr. Ruth" is filled with the humor, honesty, and life-affirming spirit of Karola Ruth Siegel, the girl who became "Dr. Ruth."

9 to 5: Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy - giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains "otherwise engaged," the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can't she?
