Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’ Now Casting Lead Roles

Casting directors of the upcoming remake of the hit movie musical West Side Story are seeking talents that will take on the four lead roles.

From the original Romeo and Juliet–inspired Broadway musical to the 1961 film, West Side Story is a piece that has always been loved by cinephiles and music buffs alike. The 1961 film starring Natalie Wood, Richard Beymer, Russ Tamblyn, Rita Moreno, and George Chakiris even went on to win win several awards at the 34th Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Now the film about the romantic yet tragic story of two youngsters from opposing gangs who later fall in love with each other is set to be remade with Steven Spielberg taking the director’s seat and Tony Kushner penning the script.

For each of the five main characters, Maria, Tony, Riff, Anita, and Bernardo, a musically talented actor is being sought. Below are more details about the roles:
