There are plenty of people nowadays that are addicted to Reality TV Shows. Although, you might not realize , but there are countless famous celebrities who took their first step to stardom from these shows.

While we identify Kelly Clarkson and other famous stars with these reality shows, here are a number of names in the industry we tend to forget that they first appeared on these shows on TV.

  1. One Direction

Baby you light up my world like nobody else...” Who doesn’t know the lines from the famous song “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction? This group is simply making the girls around the globe scream.

Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Harry Styles are just a bunch of regular teen guys who made a huge step to the music realm.

And no, they didn’t even win first place on The X Factor 2010 in UK. As a matter of fact, finishing the reality TV show, third place was their ticket to fame and success.

 

 

Thanks to social media, all their four albums, Up All Night, Take Me Home, Midnight Memories, and Four (all came up each year from 2011 up to 2014), have propelled and even broke the records in the market. Not to mention, they have also generated hit singles including, “What Makes You Beautiful”, “Story of My Life”, “Steal My Girl”, and “Live While We’re Young”.

Also known as 1D, have achieved numerous awards and nominations. Truth is, after releasing “Midnight Memories” and “Four”, the entire universe was in great shock. This 5 male group band from London are creating history in the US Billboard 200 when their first three albums have ranked number one after its debut.

Yes, we’re talking about Gwen Stacy, Spider-Man’s girlfriend from the movie, The Amazing Spider-Man film series. She was also the voice behind Eep from The Croods. Believe it or not, before became one of the A-list actresses, she once competed in a reality show, In Search of the New Partridge Family, 2004.

Albeit, this reality TV show isn’t that famous and do not even know if it exists or not. Consider this show a sort of talent search for the new group of casts for the latest version of the Partridge Family. Lucky for Stone, she got the role of Laurie Partridge.

This became her launching pad in her career, both in TV and movie which in fact, exploded to a number of roles. As she soars in her success, she made her debut from the movie, Superbad (2007), a comedy film directed by Greg Mottola. From then, countless projects kept coming.

There’s got to be behind this sexy Pussycat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger. Did you know that before she became part of the all-girl group and became the front woman of the Pussycat Dolls, she competed in a reality TV show?

She first drew the audience’ attention when she joined the WB reality TV series, Popstars, 2001. The moment she sang her own version of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”, everyone knew she was a step closer to success.

Perhaps, it was after when such an amount of exposure of the show that got her the recognition. She won the show and has become the newest part of the girl group band, Eden’s Crush. It was not long after it became a one hit wonder, she signed for Interscope Records as part of the Pussycat Dolls.

The famous reality TV series, Popstars, began in New Zealand. This is a show that caters to all talents who are aspiring to become successful in the music industry.

From a little kid performing on stage to being part of the Mickey Mouse Club, JT also joined a reality TV show, Star Search.

As young as 11 years old, you can imagine how he made a country music number by Justin Randall. That became his stepping stone toward popularity and success.

Contestants compete and challenge the champion. That was what JT went through. He brought home the male vocalist title as Justin Randall in 1993.

 

 

Timberlake was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Lynn Harless and Randall Timberlake, who is a choir director in a Baptist church. (Perhaps, you would know where he got his talent.)

After taking his first step to stardom, he became the member of the boy band NSYNC. A group created in the 1995 with Chasez and Timberlake as the lead singers.

Later on, he appeared in a Disney movie, ‘Model Behavior’, where he played the role of a model that fell in love with a waitress, whom he mistakenly thinks she was a model as well. At this point, after the dissolution of N’Sync, his popularity as being a solo artist rose.

Soon after, album, performance, and acting projects followed. It was on 2007-2012 where he decided to rest on his music realm and focus on his acting career.

Even if Beyonce may have ruled the world, but believe it or not, there was once in her life where she has joined several competitions in singing and dancing. As a matter of fact, when she was 9, she appeared with her former girl group, Girls Tyme on Star Search.

Star Search was the same show, Justin Timberlake started and performed. It was in 1993, where she took the title, Female vocalist.

 

 

Performing in various competitions became her ticket to her fame. It was in the late 1990’s where she became the lead singer of the R&B girl-group, Destiny’s Child. This group was managed by her own father, Matthew Knowles.

Other than Beyonce and Justin Timberlake taking the leap of fame in Star Search was Britney Spears. Perhaps, that performance made the audience realize that performing on stage was in her blood.

It came eventually natural. As a matter of fact, they have considered her as the biggest pop queen around. What can you say; the little kid loves the crowd.

It was in 1992, where she performed as a female vocalist in the show. Probably, you would recognize the number of artist who took their first steps to success in this show.

You can imagine how she performs on stage and wow the audience. She was three when she started to learn how to dance. Along with her talent, she was asked to perform solo at their annual recital. With a combination of gymnastics and voice lessons with her, you can think of how her performance would look like.

Spears performed ‘Love Can Build a Bridge’ during the Star Search competition. They were in awe of her performance.

If you could still recall, Hasselbeck used to be a Survivor. It’s not what you’re thinking. We’re talking about being a contestant in the Survivor, the second season.

Although she was not able to make it to the first place, finishing fourth place made her way to success. But before she became The View host, her battle to in the reality TV show, was tough.

The Australian Outback in 2001 to 2002 season was a challenge. She was first a member of the Kucha tribe where she kept avoiding being voted out at the Tribal Council. She may have won, but lost during the fifth episode.

Episode after the other, it was a battle for Hasselbeck. Not until she became the only survivor in the Kucha and was voted out making her the fourth to Survive in the reality TV competition.

Perhaps, it was her strong personality that pushed her to success. Her eagerness nailed the audition for the show, The View. Hasselbeck became the co-host for seven years.

Now, “Stronger” (the name of her best-selling single), Kelly Clarkson has always been a winner. She was the first American Idol turned famous singer.

It was indeed “A Moment Like This” (her debut single) after she won the title. Consider it her stairways to becoming a world idol from being the original American Idol.

Thankfully, Clarkson’s friends encouraged her to audition in the reality TV show. She still could recall the challenges she and the other contestants have faced. Truth is, she considers the battle as a camp for kids.

She immediately signed for a record deal with RCA Records after becoming the Idol. Probably, she believes there were better offers than the two recording contracts; Jive and Interscope Records which she turned down before she got the title.

Clarkson also appeared extra in a couple of comedy TV series; Sabrina, The Teenage Witch and Dharma and Greg. This was she traveled and moved to Los Angeles in 2001. She wants to chase her dreams.

If Clarkson was able to make it to the top of her career, Underwood, being the American Idol during its fourth season took advantage of becoming the Idol her step to stardom.

People knew the moment she sang the song “Could’ve Been” by Tiffany during the top 12 girls night, she would nail it. Believe it or not, she made the judge, Simon Cowell consider her his favorite. Knowing how he judges the reality show, that alone is a big thing.

Moreover, when she sang her own version of the rock hit song, “Alone” by Heart, made Cowell to predict that she will not only win in the competition, but outshell in the industry. Each week was a challenger for Underwood, but she was able to make it.

She performed on stage with the Rascal Flatts with their song, “Bless the Broken Road”. Underwood became the fourth Idol and bringing home a recording contract worth millions of dollars, a use of that private jet in a year, and not to mention, a Ford Mustang convertible.

Now, Underwood enjoys her success following the release of the songs people could not forget, “Inside Your Heaven” and “Some Hearts”.
