Reality TV star, actor and fitness model Greg Plitt was killed by a Metrolink train in Burbank, California on Saturday afternoon. According to authorities, Plitt was on the train tracks filming a video.
Burbank police say Plitt and two other people were filming on the train tracks located to the northern section of the Burbank Metrolink Station, when a Metrolink train struck and killed him instantly.
According to witnesses, Plitt was holding a camcorder during the time of the accident.
Metrolink passenger Victor Crowell revealed that the fitness guru was dressed all in black. He also added that he saw him stumble over the tracks when the train went by.
Police has released a statement ruling out suicide. They said the actor may just have misjudged the oncoming train’s speed or it is also possible that he thought the train was just on a parallel track nearby.
“The conductor said that when he was coming southbound on the train he hit the horn and hit the brakes to try and stop, but Mr. Plitt did not seem to react to the train’s horn,” said Burbank police Sgt. Scott Meadows.
Fans and people who knew Plitt and wished to pay their respects visited the train tracks on Sunday. There was also a bouquet of roses placed on the scene of the accident.
Thirty-seven year old Plitt was a West Point graduate, who starred in NBC’s daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives and in Bravo’s reality TV show Work Out. He has also appeared in more than 250 fitness magazines in just the past eight years.
On his website, it has also been revealed that Plitt served in the Army for five years.
In an ironic turn of events, Plitt posted a video on Instagram titled, “Will You Be Remembered?” a month before his death.
