Going through a dry spell in his career, he was asked to be one of the animators for the Tracy Ulman show to do a short animation which was called the Simpson’s. In 1988 Who Framed Roger Rabbit broke the animation mold, and they convinced FOX to do the Simpson’s as their own show in which led to him directing the Simpson’s.
