Stephanie Gilbert's Modeling Jobs, Acting Auditions and Additional Experience
I started playing the piano, when i was 7 and practicing traditional Shotokan Karate, when I was 9 years old. Over the years I added the guitar and fiddle and I love to sing. In the martial arts department I added Kickboxing, Ju Jitsu, and Capoeira to my skills. In middle school I signed up for theater. In addition to that I love cooking, horseback riding, and languages. Originally from Germany, I have a strong German accent. Most people find that rather cute. At home my son and I often love to dress up in costumes and act with costumes I sewed myself.
The first job I had in Germany was a police officer at the age of 17. At the beginning of 1998 I opened my first martial arts academy with 4 different locations in Germany. After immigrating to the US (2003), I opened another martial arts academy and in 2010 I became a school bus driver. All of my co-workers always tease me by saying "Hey, where's your bus driver!" to me, because even though I am 36, i look like one of the high schoolers. Even my high school bus kids sometimes joke, that they must be the oldest on the bus. During the summer vacation, when I drove for Hershey Park, some guests asked me, if I had a driver's license. Whenever I go to the playground with my son, people automatically assume, i'm his older sister, so you get the picture. I can make myself younger easily, especially when I play around with some cute hairstyles like piggy tails. I'm also very good with kids, because I'm patient and easy going, while maintaining a good maturity level. My best features are my bright smile and humor, although I'm more interested in action movies and stunts. I'm also a World class Karate and Kickboxing competitor and just recently medaled 2x Gold and 2x Bronze at the WKA World Championships (World Karate/Kickboxing Association) and another Gold at NASKA (North American Sports Karate Association). Lifting weights and running are on my schedule every week as well, so you can see, I'm very athletic.
In Germany, when i was about 10 years old, i participated in a tiny play in a 3-week long summer camp. Then in middle school, I played our school's principal in a play about the problems of smoking at our school. It was called "The Blue Dust". I was pretty shy at the time and even though I wasn't the best of our group, I had tons of excitement and fun. After I graduated middle school my acting career was pretty much over, because my parents wanted my to learn an "actual job". I wasn't full of age yet (16), so I was relying on them, and they would have never supported an acting career. So I took a little detour over police academy.
I participated in my first Karate action show with 9 years. Throughout the years I had a few more shows here and there until 1998, when I opened my first own martial arts academy. From then on I choreographed, directed, and participated regularly in my own school's shows to promote my business.
Currently I'm signing up for acting and auditioning classes at York's Little Theater (YLT) in PA. Naturally I'm interested in action movies and also comedy, however I wouldn't decline acting in other movies or theater plays, if I was given a chance, because I'm very open to new things.
