Renee Maira's Modeling Jobs, Acting Auditions and Additional Experience
When I was little I always dreamed of being a movie star. My first experience with modeling was right out of high school. I started looking for someone good with a camera and discovered I was very photogenic.
I then hooked up with a good looking friend of mine and we would try and get modeling jobs on our own. We would host golf outings and pass out drinks on the course in our hot pants. After the rounds of golf were complete, we would dress in evening dresses to sell and pass out raffle tickets.
We also hosted shows at the Cleveland Men's Athletic Club. We were ring girls in boxing matches, assisted in gambling events, chicken fights, cigar girls, and even sumo wrestling. I won of course.
I then learn that photographers would do test shoots for free. This was great. I would market myself to the best photographers and company's I could find freelancing. Long story short I taught myself how to advertise and market myself to accomplish my desire and love for myself, beauty and art.
My first real gig was for a company in Ohio. I was a calendar girl and spokes model for State Chemical for three years. I needed more work so I started joining Modeling agencies. The first agency was small, not much work and they shortly went out of business. The next was Ford agency. This lasted a short time as I decided to get a loan and go to college. I always had a job of some sort. After college, I got a job at a bank, got married, had a baby and started the domestic family life. I left the bank to pursue a career in sales. I knew I was very good in sales and marketing from my previous exposure and college. I learned I could sell almost anything and people loved my voice.
In my spare time I would do photo shoots with the photographers I had made friends with over the years. I missed it and the feeling of being in front of the camera. It seemed to be a part of me. I would just come alive and feel so free. Free to be my true natural authentic self.
I would hang out at the studio and found that I had a talent for makeup art. It was another way of expressing art and I was good at it. I started doing some makeup art for the photographers.
Where there is a will there is a way. I joined Barbizon School for acting. I loved it and needed help and training. I also took their class for professional modeling, learning the cat walk and the tricks of the trade. I believe I have a natural talent and am always open minded and willing to learn more.
I am now just discovering the amazing art of photo shop. It is like coloring except more fun. I love modeling, photography and film. It is my passion and pleasure creating and expressing the beauty of art. I went back to younger times but this time with more experience and the internet. I still have an amazing passion and drive to create more expressions that design and define my talents of who I truly am.
My career goal is to always stay open minded learning and perfecting my desire to be a successful Model and Actor. I know that practicing my abilities will open attractive opportunities. I would love to be a spokes model for a commercial brand or be cast in a lead or supporting role in a box office hit.
