About Me: Now residing in Downtown LA.... raised in Jamaica, the island and country in the Caribbean. It's not quite the paradise that you see advertised in those tourist advertisements, there is a rising crime rate. So in times of crises what do you do? You turn to music. Music as the power to heal a lot more than the people in power who make that very claim. Who loves music? Everyone does, it is no wonder it existed before speech did. I live music, music defines me, and it is inside of me. MUSIC=the playing of your soul. Though at times, music seems to be left into the hands of just a few; to make into albums that sell millions, music is all of us. Music is simply a reflection of the wonders and mysteries of the world in which we live in. Let us all celebrate the music within us.
Short Resume:
Many people have told me that I have a great voice. I believe that the time has come for me to
realize my own potential and destiny. I love singing and I have been singing since the age of 6. At the age of 12 my friends and I started a pop group and called ourselves "JaLoKay." The first 2-3 letters of our first names. We also did dancing just like any other pop group. People have also told me that have talent. I believe that the time as come for me to execute well the passion I have for singing. Since music can change the world and is
healing for people especially during trial and difficult times, I would like to
make a positive impact on people?s lives through music.

Musician Information: Lori-Ann was born in Jamaica in 1989. At the age of six her father noticed that she was a singer. Lori-Ann sang in her local church in St Catherine Jamaica in the children?s choir. At age 11 she started a girls group with two other friends called JaLokay, named after the first 2-3 letters of their names and wrote the groups first original song. That was short lived however, and at the age of twelve she moved to New York to live with her mother. While arriving to New York City at the JFK airport with her two other siblings, her mother was nowhere to be found. Lori-Ann and her siblings waited for eight hours at the airport and instead an uncle whom the children as never met showed up to pick up her and her two brothers. It was during her teenage years that her love for singing was suppressed by her mother?s emotional and physical abuses. At the age of 14 she was back in Jamaica, living with her father. She attended high school in Jamaica and graduated before gaining admission into a prestigious university on a one year scholarship. While at the university full-time, she studied sociology but singing was an active part of her life. It was attending classes and working part time that her love for singing crept up on her more than before. She attended a basic vocal skills class that emphasized opera and discovered her voice type is soprano. She performed 3 songs during this time, Summertime, Someone Like you, and Wayfaring Stranger. She also soon found out that confidence was probably the only thing that was difficult for her to achieve as a singer. After 2 years at the university funds were running out and she took the summer to work. Singing is something Lori-Ann hopes to do full time and make a living off of. A hope that millions of other people have. Nevertheless she wishes to strive and have a positive impact on the world through singing.
