Joy Pantopoulos's Modeling Jobs, Acting Auditions and Additional Experience

About Me: Joy Pantopoulos was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, and currently resides in Astoria, New York.
She began her formal dance training in her late teens after discovering Michael Jackson for the very first time. Joy would become mesmerized when watching his amazing talent, and could constantly be seen mimicking the dancing moves from all of Michael’s music videos. This truly inspired her to seriously pursue dance as a career. Joy also finds motivation in the work ethic of Michael Jackson’s determination to be the best. She uses it as her driving force to continue to be persistent in her own career path, in regards to successfully reaching all of her goals.
In Thessaloniki, Greece, Joy started her first dance classes in Belly Dancing, before later moving on to her training in various dance styles such as Latin, House, Ballroom, Argentinian Tango, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Modern Dance, Street/Lyrical Jazz, Ballet, Flamingo, Salsa, etc. After receiving quite a bit of recommendations and praise from her dance instructors, she decided to enter professional dance competitions. This decision came with some positive results! Joy won first place in many competitions, which led to some rare opportunities in both the music and television industries. Some examples of this include performing for “X-Factor”, “So You Think You Can Dance”, as well as live concerts for many well-known Greek artists and choreographers.
In 2009, Joy took a big leap in her life by moving to New York to further pursue her dream of becoming a professional dancer. It was not an easy decision, and she faced a few difficulties in the beginning. As if having to teach herself English was not hard enough, she also had to deal with starting fresh in a big city and not knowing anyone. Joy overcame these obstacles and was able to accomplish much right from the start. She furthered her dance studies at many different studios, including Broadway Dance Center and HB Studios. This again led to some great opportunities, and allowed her to work for some amazing live shows including a Jay-Z fashion show, and a Beyonce promotional show.
Though her journey towards her goals continues, Joy learned something valuable very early in her career. It was important to remember the people that had helped her along the way, including the people that will always believe in her, and those who had taken the risk of giving her a chance to showcase her talent and abilities. Joy finds the time to “return the favor” to those people by teaching the new generation of young children what she has learned. Working as a dance choreographer, she enjoys teaching new dance routines to young kids. She finds it to be a rewarding experience the way it has helped them gain the same interest that she had in pursuing it as a career!
Despite her award-winning achievements in the world of dance, Joy expanded her background to become a triple-threat with her additional training in the fields of professional acting and modeling. Most recently, she was cast in the lead role of the Off-Broadway production of “Girls With Dreams” at the legendary La Mama Theatre.
Joy describes herself as “a dreamer”, and with all of the success she has achieved at this point in her career, she truly has the power to make any of her dreams a reality!
