Janet Marie's Modeling Jobs, Acting Auditions and Additional Experience

About Me: Janet Marie is a SAG-AFTRA member whose specialties are voice/overs, reality TV, spokesperson and commercial work. She is also an award-winning ASCAP songwriter, Music/TV/Radio Producer, Music Publisher and Business Manager whose extensive background in the entertainment industry gives her a strong professional edge. Currently, Ms. Marie is developing a unique fitness video for women over 40.

Short Resume: Janet Marie started formal dance training at age five in her hometown of Ridgewood, New Jersey and went on to major in Theater Arts with an emphasis in dance at prestigious Smith College in Northampton, MA. Marie has taught dance and fitness professionally and is currently developing a unique fitness video with herself as talent.

In addition to a dance background, Marie has studied voice and has been V/O talent as well as writer/producer on over 70 TV spots. She has also hosted a few radio shows and is even a spoken word artist on electronica records. Voice acting comes very naturally to Ms. Marie and cold reading is a specialty.

On the music front, Janet Marie was classically trained on piano and now uses the piano as a composing tool. She is President of Danstar Productions, an ASCAP music production and publishing company which specializes in licensing its catalog to film and TV.

Janet joined AFTRA in the 80’s upon doing some bit parts in soaps and some pilots, most notably as feature reporter for a “Today’s Internet” show shot for PBS. Lately, Marie has focused on reality TV, being the sole featured female motorcyclist on “Epic Ride” on the Speed Channel. She was also selected to be the featured female contestant on “Merv Griffin’s Let’s Do Crosswords” and early in her career, was the big winner of the day on “Crosswits”.

In addition to her degree from Smith, Ms. Marie earned a Masters’ in Business Administration degree from Pace University on a Mellon Grant, and later did extensive coursework at UCLA Extension in Broadcast Journalism. She parlayed these skills into a successful career as Unit Production Manager at ABC-TV in Los Angeles, followed by several years in independent production under her own production company.
