James Gray, Jr., better known as Scoog, is a rapper and entrepreneur. He hails from New Orleans, LA. He grew up in Lacombe, New Orleans East, and the 7th ward and 9th ward of New Orleans. Scoog started rapping at the tender age of 12. He recorded his first original song at the age of 15. Scoog attended Southern University in New Orleans but was forced to transfer when Hurricane Katrina demolished New Orleans and other southern cities in 2005. He relocated to the Bay Area, where he graduated from California State University, East Bay with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts. He also continued to draw attention with his unique southern style. In 2008 Scoog founded the company Gray Line Entertainment. After working with several underground artists in New Orleans, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, Scoog has earned the respect as one of the most talented underground artist to emerge.
Due to fans asking about the meaning of the name "Scoog", he created the acronym "S.C.O.O.G." meaning Spitting Cool On Outstanding Game.

Musician Information: Scoog hails from New Orleans, LA. He grew up partly in what is known as the 7th ward part of the city, Lacombe, Louisiana, and the popular New Orleans East. Scoog started is craft of rapping at the tender age of 13. He recorded his first original song at the age of 15. After working with several underground artists in New Orleans, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, Scoog has earned the respect as one of the most talented underground artist to emerge. Scoog has presented himself and his own artist?s on 7 mix tapes entitled ?Scoog Presents The Mpire Volumes 1 through 7. His first solo mix tape was near completion when New Orleans and other southern cities were demolished by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He relocated to the Bay Area in California, where he continued to draw attention with his unique southern flow and lyrical technique. Scoog is also known for his drive, his ambition, and his persistence. On January 10, 2007 Scoog was introduce to the Bay Area on KPOO Radio. His debut single ?Wrong? caught the ears and attention of listeners around the world. On January 13, 2007 Scoog was interviewed for a second time and reintroduced his single ?Wrong? to the world. KPOO radio station experienced a high volume of callers requesting ?Wrong? by Scoog. Scoog performed ?Wrong? during the opening of ?Color Struck: One Man Show? in Oakland, CA. at Laney College. Scoog performed live at Barnes & Noble in Jack London Square in Oakland, CA. on November 15, 2008. Scoog performed live at The Howlin' Wolf in The French Quarter in New Orleans, LA. on January 21, 2009. Scoog is promoting not only his self as a solo artist but also his independent record company, Gray Line Entertainment. Scoog is currently in the studio working on his debut album, which is the first of a three part series. Scoog is featured on the G.A.S. Vol. 2 Compilation. The Preview EP album is out now. Scoog's new album is projected to be released in August 2009.
