About Me: Born and raised in Rockford “Rock Town”, IL, RIV ONE is an engineer, rapper and singer-songwriter whose style of production and arranging is very influential in music around the Midwest area. At the age of 14 he discovered the paintbrush was not the only tool he was good at, but that the microphone is where is voice really could come alive. Ever since that moment, RIV has been determined to make his voice heard to a large audience.
With his producer Wook Billa and r&b singer Kenny Page, he plans on dropping his independent project EVERYTHING RIV in the fall of 2011. He has executive produced and engineered hit tracks for many local artists and has his own music label, RIV ONE MUSIC.
RIV ONE is similar to artist such as Tech N9ne and Ludacris, in that he plan to help redefine the sound of the entire genre of music with an immediately recognizable engineering and production style. The songs he produces and engineers feature unusual arrangements, sounds, and instrumentation, tied together by a trademark sense of rhythm.
RIV cite his influences as God, a prayerful mother, a deceased father, the loss of loved ones and typical day to day inner city observations. His sound is triumphant, textured inspiration built from layers ranging from upbeat to thought provoking.
So how did the name RIV ONE come about?
(RIV) representing the Rock River and the River District that is associated with Rockford. (ONE) describes the authentic, original, unique sound. He is the only “one” like him.”
He write, record and mix most of his own music while still looking for a job, earning his street credibility and managing his family.
His appreciation for the art of music developed through his time at Guilford High School, with his individual commitment and enthusiasm for learning later being instrumental to his dynamic style.
Fuelled by the hunger and determination that so many lack, RIV ONE holds no limits and follows nobody but his own. Self-made, self-built, whichever way you put it, RIV produced his own foundation, meaning he's here to stay.
“Put me in the studio alone for a week and I will guarantee to leave out with a hit album or mix tape!”, one of RIV ONE’s infamous quotes, but also a statement that describes this talented artist who has truly mastered his craft.
