Musician Information: Never before has there been a hip-hop artist that possesses the skills that the young Philadelphia native Darnell Walton. Born and raised in Philadelphia he was a quiet youth who stayed to himself but he had to adjust to fit in with his neighborhood. As Darnell grew he began to understand the streets more and more. By the age of 9, Darnell was already writing and rapping songs he jotted in his notebook during class or in spare time. At 14 he met S.L.A songwriter/producer who also was raised in North Philadelphia. S.L. Became a major influence on Darnell. S.L not only helped Draft pick become the talented young man he is today but he formed him into a performer. S.L has been a positive male role model. Draft pick said "he was like a dad who showed him everything he needed to know about music" .Draft pick is currently working on his E.P Draft pick’s soon to be released mix tape is titled "Rookie of The Year”. The mix tape was pushed back. However, his fan base has stayed. supportive and attending his shows and playing his music on MySpace Draft pick is definitely being an example to over young men in Philadelphia. Jay-Z, Bow Wow, Lil Wayne, slim shady,50Cent, are major influences, along with R&B artist such as Rihanna, Trey Songz, Chris Brown, and Melanie Fiona. A fan told Draft pick "that one day he would be at the top”. Those words have motivated Draft pick to keep going and not give up .Draft pick is working really hard to achieve his dream.
