Auditions for Chicago.
For The Audition: Please bring a prepared musical selection no longer than 2 minutes in length and not from Chicago. An accompanist will be provided. Auditions may also consist of reading from the script and learning a short dance sequence. If you would like to only be considered for a dancing role, that is fine, simply just state your preference when making your audition appointment. There are non-dancing roles as well.
About the Show: Set in the legendary city during the roaring jazz hot 20s, Chicago tells the story of two rival vaudevillian murderesses locked up in Cook County Jail. Nightclub star Velmas serving time for killing her husband and sister after finding the two in bed together. Driven chorus girl Roxies been tossed in the joint for bumping off the lover shes been cheating on her husband with. Not one to rest on her laurels, Velma enlists the help of prison matron Mama Morton and slickster lawyer Billy Flynn, who turn Velmas incarceration into a murder-of-the-week media frenzy, thus preparing the world for a splashy showbiz comeback. But Roxies got some of her own tricks up her sleeve. Full of dance and the great music of Kander and Ebb, this musical is packed with all sorts of razzle dazzle.
Rehearsals: TADA runs very organized rehearsals and values each company members time. Some minimal rehearsals will take place in December with more aggressive rehearsals taking place in January. Some conflicts can be worked around and should not deter one from auditioning. Simply state your conflicts at the time of your audition. Usually rehearsals are 6:30pm-10pm M-F, some Saturday afternoons and Sunday evenings. All cast members are given a rehearsal schedule ahead of time so that they can plan accordingly. Rehearsals will take place at the TADA Theatre and at the dance studio.
