Corey Baker Dance CBD is seeking 4 contemporary dancers to work alongside Corey Baker and collaborators (Wayward Plants and Yann Seabra) to take part in a 2-week Research & Development period, which will explore all creative and logistic aspects necessary for the full performance creation.
Criteria: Performers must have a background of professional dance training, a strong performance presence, good creative skills and robust physical strength and stamina. Dancers must have an interest in the theme of the work and want to learn Kapa Haka, the indigenous Maori art form. We are also keen to hear from and work with Maori artists from different creative backgrounds.
The ultimate work will be outdoors and the R&D period will involve training on Rugby Fields. Performers must be willing to and be comfortable with handling the demands of outdoor work.
Please note, although we are working with 4 dancers for the R&D, we will be using 15 dancers for the later creation and will keep the details of anyone of interest on file for later employment opportunities.
R&D period: 3-8 February 2014, London - Week 1 and 10-15 February 2014, DanceXchange, Birmingham - Week 2
Fees and expenses: £450 p/w, travel + accommodation provided (outside of your home city)
If you are interested in this opportunity and are confident that you fit the above criteria and are completely available for the dates listed above, we look forward to receiving your application. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
To apply email with a CV, headshot photo, and a short statement detailing why this project interests you and whether you have any experience of Maori performance.

Got a role in a full length feature film! Just wanted to give a big "Thank You" to Explore Talent. My daughter Julia Hodgkins auditioned for a role in a full length feature film called Second Wind and got a co-supporting role in the film! We're presently in rehersals and will be filming in a couple of weeks. The experience has been amazing and so rewarding. Working with director, Daryl C. Sylva is awesome. If it weren't for Explore Talent, we wouldn't be here right now! We're very greatful for your service. Maria Hodgkins & Julia Hodgkins
