Lyric Opera of Chicago is auditioning highly trained dancers with classical ballet experience, including pointe work, with strong acting experience for its upcoming production of the opera Rusalka by Anton�n Dvorak. This new production will be staged by Sir David McVicar. Andrew George is the choreographer and August Tye is the ballet mistress.
Rusalka requires five solo female dancers (plus one cover) and five solo male dancers (plus one cover) with 3-4 years of professional training in classical ballet techniques. Dancers must also have professional stage experience and a dynamic presence. Pointe work will be required for three of the female dancers.
All applicants must use the stage-door entrance at Washington and Wacker. All applicants must check in and register for the audition before the audition class. A resume and headshot are required to register.
Auditions will be held Sunday, April 21:
10:00 a.m. Registration (everyone)
11:00 a.m. Class (everyone)
12:00 p.m. Audition
3:00 p.m. Callbacks (if necessary)
Material To Prepare:
Dancers should bring ballet slippers and pointe shoes for the ballet class portion of the audition. Please make sure to wear simple dance clothes that show the dance line.
