Indepen-dance is an inclusive dance development company offering creative movement classes to people with diverse abilities, their carers, family members and volunteers.

The postholder will manage the finances and administration of the organisation and develop the opportunities for the long term business sustainability of Indepen-dance on a national basis, improving access to inclusive dance and developing the reach of our work to wider audiences.

Throughout the year, the company performs work of high artistic quality created in collaboration with professional choreographers and dancers.

Indepen-dance enables individuals with diverse abilities to participate in and benefit fully from a high quality arts provision. The Scottish Government has provided 2 year funding for a business manager. This is an exciting opportunity to support the development of the organisation exploring options to expand more widely within Scotland and contributing to the long term sustainability of the organisation. We are seeking an individual committed to the arts and integration with the skills to support business development.

Primary Objective
To manage the finances and administration of the organisation and develop the opportunities for the long term business sustainability of Indepen-dance on a national basis, improving access to inclusive dance and developing the reach of our work to wider audiences.

Main Responsibilities

Financial:
To manage and ensure accuracy of financial systems, preparing relevant reports to the Board including cash flow projections; profit and loss; aged creditor and debtor statements. To lead on funding applications as required, to a variety of sources including the Scottish Government, charitable trusts, foundations and public funders. To work closely with the Artistic Director to align new developments with potential sources of funding. To generate new partnerships and income streams to develop the company’s financial sustainability.
Administrative:
To assist in developing the company’s governance and legal structure. To manage contractual arrangements. In conjunction with the Artistic Director to prepare and present relevant reports to the Board and ensuring implementation of Board decisions. To ensure that all policies and procedures are understood by staff and monitor implementation. Provide regular reports to the Board and where relevant ensure policies are updated and remain fit for purpose. To establish effective systems for managing complaints and enquiries. To establish and manage effective systems for recruitment of salaried staff, freelance staff, volunteers and students. To support the management of marketing and media relations. To take the lead role in meetings about the Briggait.

Developmental:
To work with the Artistic Director in the development plans for Indepen-dance. In conjunction with the Artistic Director to prepare proposals for the Board on new business developments, preparing detailed costings and making recommendations on viability. To manage the marketing of Indepen-dance’s activities ensuring that materials are of a high standard and target appropriately. To establish systems for managing new business for Indepen-dance.

Any other duties relevant to the post.
