Explore Talent, the leading online talent resource agency, reposts the recent news about Tom Cruise’s lawsuit against Bauer Publishing. According to New York Times, in October 2012, the publisher of Life & Style and In Touch magazines had both covered stories about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ split-up. The magazines also released statements about his relationship with daughter, Suri.
Both magazines contain obvious lies and presumptions. The magazines issued on cover stories that he had “abandoned” his daughter. With this, he prompted his lawyer to sue the publisher, Us Weekly confirms.
Tom Cruise’s party filed a case in United States District Court for the Central District of California. When he sued the publishing group, Bentram “Bert” Fields, popular entertainment lawyer, said that the 51-year-old actor does not immediately sue people. However, the lawyer said that when it comes to spreading lies about his [Cruise’s] relationship with his daughter, he will really push to file a lawsuit.
On December 20, Friday, the Oblivion actor settled his dispute with Bauer Media Group. He dropped his $50 million lawsuit against the publishing company. His lawyer said in an official statement that the settlement were confidential between both parties. He also added that the magazines never meant to communicate that Tom Cruise had “abandoned” his daughter and regretted for giving such conclusions.
