Anthony Bowen's Modeling Jobs, Acting Auditions and Additional Experience

About Me: Hello,
My name is Anthony Bowen. I am 20 years old and I live in Flagstaff, Az, a popular tourist town known for our easy access to the Grand Canyon National Park and Snowboarding hotspots. It’s not a town of huge populace, but every year it swells a little more. I am originally from Los Angeles, CA; I moved to Flagstaff nine years ago. While living in Los Angeles, my mother encouraged me to do child acting. I do not remember much about it because I started before I was able to read, but I do remember being extremely excited about it. After a few years, I was included in productions such as a cancelled FOX program (“Ryan Caulfield: Year One”- a cop drama circa 1999) and a few episodes of “Power Rangers” (my favorite childhood show). In the first, as the neighbors’ kid and then as a kid rescued by the Pink Ranger and also being an unnamed extra in various television tidbits.

I am currently not enrolled in a college or university, though I have taken classes, but I am now working at the hospital here in town as a dietary tech. My work pertains to working with the patients and making sure they’re following their diets and helping them with healthy food choices. Though working with nutrition is undoubtedly interesting, I feel it’s not my calling. The pay is quite decent and I can make a living off of it, I just am not living up to my potential. All throughout high school, I worked in the computer lab in classes ranging from digital photography to film media. My sophomore year, I was introduced to a basic Windows Movie Maker and from then on all my projects I did for my classes were film-based where I was the star and presented my subject in an entertaining yet informative matter. It has always been my sacred duty to go above and beyond in what I do to make somebody laugh. I am not a negative person and I look to see the good in everyone and every situation. Others may not feel it’s realistic, but I’ve been getting by.

Back to the film: My Senior Year. At the beginning of the semester as I was about to embark on another hilarious and educating feature, I was approached by my school counselor and the librarian (The librarian and I had quite a close bond- I was in the library every chance I got working on the computer and she mentored me on how to do some interesting things with the projects. She and her husband also own the local theatre company here in Flagstaff, “Theatrikos”). They told me that there was an ex-television producer here in town who was recruiting students to do a local television station after school. The man was “ex” because the local television station we DID have was laid to rest so we depended on our local 'what’s happenings' from the Phoenix news stations. I was pretty excited about it so I signed myself up right away. I was… the only one from my school. I had a private meeting with the producer, Cowboy Bob, who worked all over the country doing all kinds of neat and crazy things that made me jealous except for his outfit which consisted of a leather vest, boots and cowboy hat. He was quite a sight and even more of a storyteller. So I let myself be taken under his wing. I showed him what I had done and what I wanted to do (I wanted to be a film editor for the movies!), and he was genuinely impressed. By now, many students had known what I was doing and asked me if I could help them with their film projects since that was the only way they thought they could get an 'A', so I gladly helped. Needless to say, I was very busy my senior year. Not only was I working my butt off to get 'A’s', hinting at colleges and scholarships, helping everybody else, working on the student council so I could make my senior year the funnest thing ever!, I was also a manager at a Sonic fast food restaurant where I even had to rollerblade. It’s ok, I enjoyed it. It wasn’t my first job, but it was quite fun. I got to be as eccentric as I wanted as I have always considered myself… peppy.

Cowboy Bob and I worked together for a semester and a half and we even managed to wrangle a handful of students from my cross-town rival school to work on the television business. Bob appointed me the leader of the group and I did my best to lead them. By this time I only worked by myself and was now working at their school after my classes. Their school had the proper equipment set up for them to have a film class and crew. My alma mater only had me and my imagination so this project took a lot of determination on my part. We pulled it off; we were able to set up and tear down an on-site shoot for the news as quickly and efficiently as possible. We even broadcasted the local college and high school sports games. We were paid but under the table of course by Bob. He was able to collect for our services since we were all minors and labor laws and all that. I enjoyed the work and feel like I learned a lot. I definitely gained valuable experience.

In the midst of the chaos known as my life, I was able to balance everything out accordingly and even graduated with honors. As if my whole high school experience wasn’t hard working enough, at the end of the year, the night before graduation, there was an awards ceremony. I was told I was being presented an award and nobody could tell me what it was. So on that night I was the first to be awarded and it was an award for dedication to the school. I nearly cried my eyes out. It felt so good to be recognized for everything I had done not only for myself or my fellow classmates but for what I did for the school. I put myself out there and without letting everything fall to pieces considering the amount of stress I endured. I was proud to be a leader, now knowing that everybody looked up to me behind my back after all. But I remained humble.

So, moral of the story, if you’ve read my memoir, I would love to get in to a film acting/producing business. I have usually been able to achieve the goals I’ve set for myself be it grand or insignificant. I love the feeling of accomplishment and the extraordinary journeys life takes me to get there. I know this is a long shot but I know I would be happy doing it. I love being the center of attention, liking it when I get my way and being as gregarious and outgoing as possible. I have an outgoing personality and flare for dramatics. I love everything film and music. I hope to utilize my skills as an actor to reach my potential in this business. I take rejection well and it gives me new incentive to try harder and better. I would appreciate ANY oppurtunity to persue my dreams. I don't want to be cliche or typical, so I aim to provide that unique element in any everyday situation.I consider myself diligent and I’ll prepare myself for anything be it rejection or failure. I would love to do something in this business and I know the possibilities and how people go about it and I know I am ready.

Thank you for your consideration.
