About Me: Good day! As of present I am appearing in The Music Man as Mayor Shinn till July 22,2013 at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank New Jersey.
I am called Alf. Al, Alfreddie, Freddie, Fred, BoBo and Alfred depending on the assemble of friends, family, cast and workers I am with. Some great names stick.
These are the names people call me no matter how much I try to change their mind. So if you are looking for a comedy man with a sense of timing? I Have been a comical ham - more on stage - and on local studio camera recordings. Repeatly used in acting and cold reading classes more than once every week up front as a sample to bring in new students. Love to work and get into the parts as long as there is growth interest in both and all parties.. Love to travel. Like viditing museums. Was told by a teacher - go study History. Why? To learn I suppose. So Historic sites like Colonial Williamsburg and Gettysburg as other historic sites I like to visit with or without historical interest. Lets face it - we are all living in history. And viewing the seashore and mountains are a sight. I Like to go camping, hoteling, hiking trails in the outdoors and healthy sight-seeing adventures. I Love to give tours. And love taking tours. Walking a large building complex or ship is very enjoyable. As are visiting Palaces , castles and mansions for the tours information. At quiet times on walks I like to create and makeup scenes while visiting landmarks and places of interest as sets for acting in. Or storyboarding a scene.
Most of the time the scene will arrive like music to a songwriter. My comedy is sometimes like a cartoon given the settings. Since my education included animation with teachers James Fletcher Disney artist and Jules Engle Cal Arts Instructor. I believe comedy is healing. If it is a direct or diverse stimulant to a comedic charactor you are searching for - I can produce a shy silly to a smooth comical tough guy - timid, loud and or weak. For drama and action I can add a comic effect. For something more serious - I can develop comic glitches in the charactor - I can usually develop a quirk for the charactor played - if need be ... according to the charactor wanted or needed. An improv can take affect if directing allows. Having been a tour guide for Busch Gardens beer brewery and Universal Studios tour training I can provide tour information given the narrative. As a Six Flags Great Adventure in-the-park information announcer for security announcements informing visiting guests, I can announce the rules and regulations and answer questions provided to me, plus give behind the scenes private tours. For one afternoon I was Willie Nelson's Security Detail. In this context I have been told: I should go into Television. Motion picture and or stagework. Often I have been told I am Television sitcom material. Also recently told I may be good at political stuffing. What is political stuffing?
I,ve been on a number of sets. From Universal to Disney's backlots in California as a guest. And at in house studios in New Jersey. A few television commercials in audience appearances.
I have sat at the lunch table with Actor Jack Lemmon and Actress Debbie Reynolds. Worked one day with Actress Jane Withers off camera. Was mentored by Jim Fletcher Disney Artist - learning charactorization/charactors for two years. Was mentored four years with charactor substance with teacher Jules Engle - UPA Studio Artist with the creative likes of Mr Magoo and Gerald McBoingBoing creative team. And attended school with the famous Paul Rubin-Pee Wee Herman for one year. Spoke with comedian Rip Taylor one evening about comedy encouragement.
Worked many days and nights with Actor George Simonelli on Standup Comedy routines in classes and at the Comedy Store Hollywood's local stage. Studied cold reading with Ivan Markota at his Van Mar Academy in Hollywood, California. Also worked briefly with Actress Dana House. Attended excellent classes with the very talented Glen Keane - Famous Disney Drawing Artist Actor Animator. Shared notes with the talented Larry Leker - Storyboard Creative Artist for Disney and Don Bulth. Worked one summer with Luis Estevez - Fashion designer - Luis designed for Stars like Elizabeth Taylor. Was a european festival costume model for Austrian Opera Costume Designer Peter Holup. Appeared on stage with George Bell - actor and singer on Disney's "Even Stevens" television show as school principle.
Worked on camera with Rod Schieder - Disney's EPCOT Imagination Actor and Puppetier. Served Roy Disney Jr. lunch as his waiter at a business lunch meeting ( had to add this in)
